Chaplaincy Activities and Facilities

The Chaplaincy houses a Christian Chapel and we welcome you to join us for a range of weekly worship and prayer activities, which are open to staff and students of all faiths or none. Please see below for our timetable of regular events.

Breathe

Quaker style worship. We gather in attentive silence. We may remain silent throughout the meeting but anyone who is moved to speak may do so.

Tuesdays 1:10-1:40pm all year round in Claire Chapel with Robin Fishwick.

International Student Fellowship

We welcome all students from around the globe to find out about life in the UK, meet new friends and improve your English.

Wednesdays at 5:00-6:00pm in the Emmanuel Centre.

Chinese Church

Come along to one of our groups to meet new friends, enjoy sharing interests, games and finding out more about the Bible. We are an international group from Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan, speaking Mandarin, Cantonese and English.

Thursdays (Mandarin and English) and Fridays (Cantonese) from 6:30pm at the Emmanuel Centre with Kim Chan.

Prayer of the Heart

End the week with meditative reflections in the Orthodox tradition.

Fridays at 3:30pm in Claire Chapel with David Ephrem.

Catholic Mass

The Catholic Chaplaincy is located a short walk from the universities. Mass is held at 5pm on Sundays weekly during term time, with additional sessions throughout the week for Mass, Confession, Rosary, Stations of the Cross, and other activities. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:15pm, Fridays at 8:10am, and Sundays at 5pm year-round, followed by CathSoc social events, with Fr. Marc Homsey

PGR Networking 

29 September,  27 October, 10 November, 8 December. 12-1pm – Wilson Room, first floor of the Emmanuel Centre (level access via lift),

Come and meet other PGRs for informal networking and peer support in a friendly environment.

Hosted by Anthea Colledge, chaplain at the University, who finished her PhD at Leeds in October 2021.

Engaging with Theology

Once a month, Thursdays 1-2pm in the Emmanuel Centre. Dates TBC.

Informal discussion group based on the ‘Engaging Theology’ course by Josh Cockayne. Topics this year will include forgiveness, creation/environmental care, social justice, and ‘is religion a good thing for the world?’ Based on Christian theology but open to anyone with an interest in discussing some of the bigger questions in life.
