Student Christian Movement

Welcome to the Leeds University Union branch of the Student Christian Movement. We welcome students of all denominations and none to not only learn about our shared faith but to put it into practice through campaigning for justice (both social and economic).

We find that the best way of doing this is meeting together in a non-judgemental environment. We aim to be an LGBTQI affirming and gender inclusive group.

  • Deepening Faith – We think through our faith, drawing on scripture, our lived experience, theology and church traditions to learn and grow as Christians.
  • Seeking Justice – We believe faith and justice are inseparable. We are a movement for change, creating God’s kingdom of peace, justice and hope.
  • Celebrating Diversity – We seek to create inclusive communities where all are welcome and valued equally regardless of age, disability, denomination, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or belief.
  • Christian Unity – We are founded in the spirit of ecumenism, bringing students together from different denominations and traditions to deepen faith, learn from one another and work together for justice.

We meet every week on Monday at 6pm during term time at the Emmanuel Centre (Universities Chaplaincy) which is on campus.

Once a month we hold a service in the Taizé style. These services are relaxed and informal, yet still very powerful and moving in their own way.

On other weeks are meetings can be anything from workshops, talks, discussions, quizzes, campaigning… Well almost anything really.

Be sure to like us on Facebook ‘Leeds Student Christian Movement’ and follow us on Twitter for updates on our upcoming meetings, and message us on facebook for more information.
